Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026 · BukkieGo (Pty) Ltd · Reg. No. 2026/598078/07
This page contains the Privacy Policy for both BukkieGo apps. It is issued
by BukkieGo (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/598078/07), 05 Le Cateau
Road, Delville, Germiston, South Africa. Part A applies to
the BukkieGo client app and Part B applies
to the BukkieGo Driver app.
Location at a glance: our apps collect your device’s
precise and approximate location. The client app uses it
while the app is open. The driver app uses it while the app is open and,
if you allow it, in the background while you are online or on an
active trip. We use it to match trips, show live tracking, give
ETAs, calculate fares and keep trips safe. We do not sell it. Details are
in Section 9 of each part below.
PART A — CLIENT PRIVACY POLICY
Applies to anyone using the BukkieGo client app.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how BukkieGo (Pty) Ltd (“BukkieGo”,
“we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects
personal information when you use the BukkieGo client app, in accordance
with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Name, phone number, and email address when you register
- Profile photo, if you choose to upload one
- Saved pickup/delivery addresses
- Payment information, collected and stored by our payment processor, Paystack — BukkieGo does not store full card numbers
Information collected automatically
- Location: your device’s precise location (GPS) and approximate location while the BukkieGo client app is open, to set your pickup point, show nearby Drivers, and show your trip on the live map. See Section 9.
- Device information (device type, OS version, app version) and crash/diagnostic logs
- Trip history: pickup/drop-off points, fare, date and time, and Driver rating given
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To match you with a nearby available Driver and calculate fares
- To show your trip and your Driver’s live position on a map, and to give you arrival estimates
- To process payments through our payment processor
- To provide customer support and investigate complaints or safety incidents
- To send trip-related notifications (booking confirmations, Driver arrival, receipts)
- To improve the Service and prevent fraud or abuse
- To meet our legal obligations, including tax and record-keeping requirements
4. Our Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal information because it is necessary to perform the
contract between you and BukkieGo (arranging your trip), to comply with a
legal obligation, or because you have consented (for example, to receive
marketing messages, which you may opt out of at any time).
5. Sharing Your Information
We share the minimum information necessary to complete a trip:
- With the Driver matched to your trip: your first name, pickup/drop-off location, phone number (for coordination), and any notes about the load
- With our payment processor, Paystack, to process your payment
- With cloud, mapping and messaging service providers (such as Google Firebase and email delivery services) who host our app data, show maps, and send notifications and emails, acting under contract on our instructions
- With law enforcement or regulators where required by law, or to protect the safety of a user or the public
We do not sell your personal information, including your location, to third parties, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
6. Data Retention
We keep your account and trip information, including trip location records,
for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards
to meet legal, tax, and dispute-resolution requirements, typically no longer
than 5 years after account closure, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
7. Your Rights Under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you and request a copy
- Ask us to correct or update inaccurate or outdated information
- Ask us to delete personal information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep, including by deleting your account from within the app or by emailing us
- Object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your information has been mishandled
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Information Officer using the details in Section 11.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — including
access controls, encryption in transit, and restricted staff access —
to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, or
disclosure. No system is 100% secure, and we encourage you to keep your
account credentials confidential.
9. Location Data
Location data is central to how the Service works. This is how the client app handles it:
- What we collect: your device’s precise location (GPS) and approximate location.
- When we collect it: only while the BukkieGo client app is open and in use, for example when you set your pickup point, request a trip, and follow your trip on the map. The client app does not collect your location while it is closed.
- Why we collect it: to set your pickup point, show nearby Drivers, calculate distance and fares, show your Driver’s route and arrival time, and help resolve disputes and safety incidents.
- Who sees it: your matched Driver sees your pickup and drop-off locations. Service providers that host our data or show maps process it on our behalf. We do not sell it.
- Your choices: you can allow or turn off location permission at any time in your device settings. Without location access you will not be able to book or track trips.
- How long we keep it: trip location records are kept as part of your trip history, as described in Section 6.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has
provided us with personal information, contact us so we can delete it.

be notified through the app or by email before they take effect.
PART B — DRIVER PRIVACY POLICY
Applies to anyone using the BukkieGo Driver app.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how BukkieGo (Pty) Ltd (“BukkieGo”,

Information collected automatically
- Location: your device’s precise location (GPS) and approximate location while the Driver app is open and, if you allow background location, in the background while you are online or on an active trip, so you can be matched to nearby Clients and so trips can be tracked live. See Section 9.
- Trip history: pickups/drop-offs completed, fares earned, ratings received
- Device information and diagnostic logs
Information from verification checks
- Status of document review (approved/rejected) recorded against your account by our administrators
3. How We Use Your Information
- To verify your identity, licence, and vehicle before activating your account

- To calculate and pay out your earnings

4. Our Legal Basis for Processing

Agreement with you (activating your account, matching trips, paying you), to
comply with legal obligations (such as verifying roadworthy vehicles and
licensing), or with your consent where applicable.
5. Sharing Your Information
- With a Client matched to your trip: your first name, photo, vehicle type and plate, live location during the trip, and rating
- With our payment processor, Paystack, to pay out your earnings
- With cloud, mapping and messaging service providers (such as Google Firebase and email delivery services) who host app data and files, show maps, and send notifications and emails, under contract on our instructions

We do not sell your personal information, including your location, to third parties, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account, document, and trip information, including trip
location records, for as long as your account is active, and for a
reasonable period afterwards — typically no longer than 5 years —
to meet legal, tax, and dispute-resolution requirements, after which it is
deleted or anonymised. Identity and licence documents are retained only as
long as necessary for verification and legal record-keeping.
7. Your Rights Under POPIA
- Request confirmation and a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information
- Request deletion of information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep, including by deleting your account from within the app or by emailing us

To exercise these rights, contact our Information Officer using the details in Section 11.
8. Security
We apply access controls, encryption in transit, and restricted
administrator access to protect your information, including identity
documents and banking details. Document review is limited to authorised
administrators. No system is completely secure, and we encourage you to keep
your login credentials confidential.
9. Location Data
Location tracking is essential to how trip matching, live tracking and safety monitoring work. This is how the Driver app handles it:
- What we collect: your device’s precise location (GPS) and approximate location.
- When we collect it: while the BukkieGo Driver app is open and, if you choose “Allow all the time” in your device’s location settings, in the background while you are online or on an active trip — for example when you switch to a navigation app or lock your phone. Collection stops when you go offline or the trip ends. We do not collect your location at any other time.
- Why we collect it: to match you with nearby trip requests, let the Client follow your trip live with an accurate arrival time, record the trip route and distance, calculate fares, monitor trip safety, and help resolve disputes.
- Who sees it: the Client matched to your trip sees your live location during the trip. Service providers that host our data or show maps process it on our behalf. We do not sell it.
- Your choices: you can allow or turn off location permission at any time in your device settings, and you can stop location sharing at any time by going offline in the app. Without location access you will not be able to receive or complete trips.
- How long we keep it: trip location records are kept as part of your trip history, as described in Section 6.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Driver app is not directed at children, and Drivers must be at least 18.
We do not knowingly collect information from children.
11. Information Officer and Contact Details
Our Information Officer, responsible for POPIA compliance, can be contacted at:
Chauke Prayer · info@bukkiego.co.za · 05 Le Cateau Road, Delville, Germiston, South Africa

12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will
be notified through the app before they take effect.
